Silicone Barium Calcium Incubator

Silicon calcium barium inoculant is a highly efficient composite alloy material integrating deoxygenation, desulfurization, dephosphorization and improving liquid steel properties. It has important applications in the fields of steelmaking and casting.

Silicon calcium barium inoculant is mainly used in:

Deoxygenation treatment

After adding carbon enhancer during steel discharge, the dosage is 0.5-1.5kg/ton of steel. For example, when smelting low carbon steel in converter, the calcium content of liquid steel can reach 0.003-0.005% after adding silicon calcium barium, which is significantly better than traditional silicon calcium alloys.

Continuous casting and protective casting

Add 0.1-0.3% silicon calcium barium with the flow can improve the fluidity of the steel and reduce water mouth nodules. When a steel mill was producing pipeline steel, after using silicon calcium barium treatment, the surface defect rate of continuous casting billets dropped from 3.2% to 0.8%.

Production of special steel grades

In large-section ductile iron (such as QT580-15A), silicon calcium barium is used as a primary incubator, combined with bismuth-containing incubator, the tensile strength of the casting is ≥580MPa and the elongation rate is ≥15%3. In stainless steel smelting, calcium-silicon barium can replace part of aluminum deoxygenation, reducing costs while avoiding aluminum nitride precipitation.


Compared with traditional incubators, calcium silicon barium has three core advantages:

Strong anti-recession ability

The duration of its fertilization effect is twice that of 75 ferrosilicon, and it can still maintain stable performance when the temperature of the molten iron fluctuates (±50℃).

Low addition amount

Under the same effect, the amount of calcium and barium silicon is only 1/2-1/3 of ferrosilicon, which can reduce the cost of steelmaking by 10-15%.

Wide adaptability

It is suitable for the entire series of steel types from gray cast iron to high alloy steel, especially in thin-walled parts (wall thickness < 5mm) and thick large castings (wall thickness > 100mm).
